Mr. ESE's Adventure v0.10.0b


First off, between this build of the game and the previous, RPG Maker MV, which is the engine used to develop this game, got a minor update, so this build of the game addresses new features introduced (In a nutshell; absolutely nothing compared to the types of updates that RPG Maker MZ has been getting lately)

Patch notes

+New Storyline; After climbing the ladder, the DownTownean Dream Team have finally exited that cave from before, but by doing so, they now find themselves somewhere else entirely!  What kind of structure could they possibly have entered?

+Added some more voice acting for the Head of the Camp as well as for some characters in the new storyline, as well as for Mr. ESE up until the Great Dungeoneer encounter.

+Added two new CGMV plugins from Casper Gaming Dev Corner;

  1. Changelog (For patch notes in-game)
  2. Message System (For multiple dialogue box overhauls, such as an extra window for the Character Name, much like RPG Maker MZ)

+Added 3 new holes to fall into in Abandoned Town 1.  Can you find them?

+Added several new enemies;

  1. Munchbloomer
  2. Frostburnus

*Swapped out the “Made with MV” plugin with the “Custom Logo” plugin that comes with the new RPG Maker MV update.  This means that I can change the order that each screen comes in, and it’s skippable!

*Updated that nomad camp with names as follows;

      Unnamed Nomad Camp is now Camp Laryss
      Loyal Advisor is now Henseth Stratman
      Head of the Camp is now Loiman Laryss

*Swapped out the regular old RPG Maker MV text title in the Title Screen with the first stage of the game’s official logo!

*Replaced the asset for the fairy.

*Magic attacks and Special attacks are now Abilities and Powerups respectively.  Abilities use Ability Power (AP), and Powerups use Focus Power (FP)

*Altered some more system dialogue

*Tweaked the first two backstory scenes to prepare for receiving the illustrations I plan on adding to it when the time comes.

*Changed a majority of the battlebacks.  What this basically means is that some maps will now have different backdrops in battles, and some maps that didn’t have this will now have it implemented!

*Treasure chests are now colour-coded depending on what type of loot it has inside.  Green ones have multiple different types.

*The DeFlame Shoes are now DeFlame Vest.

*Tweaked that scene in Ice Cave 1 where you have to follow the fairy to the cave;

  1. No more camera movement
  2. The fairy now stops and waits for the team at each corner until the end of the path

*Touched up the Vase Item Shop at the camp, and added in a Barrel Item Shop with different items for sale as well

*Changed Mr. ESE’s bio to better reflect his character backstory in DownTownean Trilogies

*Also touched up the first 3 caves.

*Tweaked the desert area in the world map.

This is also the first build to include custom music!  This music will replace the RPG Maker MV Stock music as well as the DLC music in the final game and is in the style of Windows PC games from the 90s.  I have written 11 of these tracks so far but will currently only be using 1 of those in the current beta. Also, I’m a little bummed that I couldn’t get all the commissioned assets done for this beta, but hopefully that’ll be something I’ll be able to rectify for any November hotfixes.
